Hometown: Long Beach, California

Education: B.A. in Government from Pomona College

Background:
Susan has been a devoted full-time mother to children Fred, Cindy and Julie. In 1994, she was diagnosed with brain cancer, a category 3 astrocytoma. She was given very little hope of long-term survival but today is living proof that the effects of brain cancer can be conquered. Her struggle against this debilitating disease was one of the inspirations for the start of The Sontag Foundation. Currently, Susan leads a fulfilling life of travel and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She's also started a small business with a friend.
