A family tradition of giving back.

The Sontag family began this foundation as a way to fund research throughout the United States and Canada. Our primary focus is on brain cancer, with additional support for programs meeting social needs in Northeast Florida as well as funding rheumatoid arthritis research through the Arthritis National Research Foundation. Recipients of The Sontag Foundation Distinguished Scientist Awards are announced every year, providing each recipient $600,000 in funding over a four-year period, thus supporting the early career efforts of North America's most talented medical minds.

We believe that by investing in the potential of beginning scientists, we are challenging the standards of research to meet a higher goal.
