Sontag Foundation Awards Over $1 Million to Local Nonprofit Organizations Funding Programs Fostering Independence and Self-Sufficiency
(Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida), February 15, 2007. The Sontag Foundation has awarded grants totaling $1,116,678 to support the programs of eleven local nonprofit organizations. These grants represent new commitments in addition to the ongoing multi-year grants awarded in previous years.
The Sontag Foundation’s 2007 grants were awarded to support programs in Northeast Florida that help foster an individual’s independence and self-sufficiency.

| $171,940 | Barnabas Center: To provide dental services to individuals with significant financial challenges (3 yr total) |
| $103,000 | Boys Home Association: To provide independent living skills training to foster children and other youth (2 yr total) |
| $99,000 | Daniel Memorial: To support Failure Free Reading Program for children in residential treatment (3 yr total) |
| $100,000 | Divine Mercy House: To support services to women facing crisis pregnancies (3 yr total) |
| $250,000 | Gleaners Dispatch: To support programs feeding the hungry (3 yr total) |
| $24,560 | Guardian of Dreams - To help provide technology needs of children in two inner city schools |
| $81,805 | Quigley House: To support transitional housing program (3 yr total) |
| $118,373 | Seamark Ranch: To provide individualized educational programs for children in residence |
| $50,000 | St. Johns County Council on Aging: To provide minor repairs to enable seniors to remain in their homes (2 yr total) |
| $20,000 | St. Johns Housing Partnership: To support financial literacy program |
Through multi-year commitments previously made by The Sontag Foundation, three additional nonprofit organizations will receive grants totaling $75,428 in 2007. Grove House Supportive Services will receive $18,981 to fund their residential program for adults with brain injuries. A $25,000 grant will continue to support the First Serve Life Skills program of Mali'Vai Washington Kids' Foundation. Barnabas Center's Samaritan Health Clinic will receive $31,447 to support the provision of medical care to financially underprivileged individuals.
The Sontag Foundation is committed to making a difference in the lives of individuals by addressing social needs in Northeast Florida and by supporting medical research in selected fields on a national level. Since 2002, The Sontag Foundation has awarded $14 million in grants.
