The Sontag Foundation Receives 56 Requests for Funding
Ponte Vedra Beach, FL (October 7, 2004) - In response to a Request For Proposals issued to nonprofit organizations in Northeast Florida, The Sontag Foundation received preliminary grant applications from fifty-one service providers in a four-county area. The foundation plans to award $500,000 in February 2005 to support local programs in the following three areas:
- Education -- targeting innovative programs that enhance the skill sets individuals need to lead productive lives
- Health/Medical -- targeting new programs and initiatives to meet the medical needs of our community and medical equipment needs relating to brain cancer or rheumatoid arthritis
- Social concerns -- targeting programs that focus on helping individuals achieve their full potential and equipping them with the tools necessary to enrich their own lives and the lives of others
A committee of The Sontag Foundation will review all preliminary requests and selected applicants will be invited to submit a full grant application. Evaluation criteria include quality and feasibility of the program idea, relevance to the community's needs and applicant organization's expertise, and relevance to The Sontag Foundation's desire to foster opportunities that help equip individuals to reach their full potential.
