Sontag Foundation Named Outstanding Foundation for 2006
Ponte Vedra Beach, FL (November 21, 2006) - The First Coast Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) named The Sontag Foundation the Outstanding Foundation for 2006. Kristie K. Naines, Chair of National Philanthropy Day, shared that each year a special day is set aside to recognize and pay tribute to the great contributions that philanthropy - and those people active in the philanthropic community - have made to our lives, our communities, our nation, and our world. Boys Home Association Family Services nominated The Sontag Foundation because of its efforts to fund programs in Northeast Florida that help individuals maximize their self-sufficiency. The Foundation also funds medical research related to brain cancer on a national level.
At the November 15 luncheon hosted by First Coast Chapter of AFP, the following awards were presented for 2006: Outstanding Foundation-The Sontag Foundation, Outstanding Philanthropists- Ted and Ann Baker, Outstanding Civic Organization- Rotary Club of South Jacksonville, Outstanding Corporation- Landmar Group LLC, and Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser- Greg Motovina.
The Sontag Foundation, headquartered in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, is a private foundation which funds medical research in the fields of brain cancer and rheumatoid arthritis on a national level and also awards grants to fund programs meeting various social and educational needs of individuals living in Northeast Florida.
